The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.63 percent to 99.538 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT). In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1547 dollars from 1.1620 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.3281 dollars from 1.3390 dollars in the previous session. The U.S. dollar bought 153.18 Japanese yen, higher than 152.70 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8074 Swiss francs from 0.8020 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.4031 Canadian dollars from 1.3957 Canadian dollars.
